Adele Givens is an American stand-up comedian, actress, writer, and producer whose bold, unapologetic style made her a prominent voice in Black comedy beginning in Chicago’s stand-up scene. She gained national recognition through HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and later joined Mo’Nique, Sommore, and Laura Hayes for the influential Queens of Comedy tour and filmed special. Her television credits include Comedy Central Presents, Martin, Moesha, The Parkers, The Steve Harvey Show, and The Hughleys, while her film roles include Tricks in The Players Club and I’Holla Helen in Beauty Shop. The Queens of Comedy comedy album earned Givens a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album, and her stand-up recordings include material from Def Comedy Jam and the 2025 collection Almost Ladylike, Vol. 1.
