Atreyu is an American metalcore band from Southern California known for combining heavy riffs, melodic choruses, screamed and clean vocals, and elements of hardcore, alternative metal and hard rock. Formed in Yorba Linda in 1998, the band became a major force in 2000s metalcore through albums including Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, The Curse, A Death-Grip on Yesterday and Lead Sails Paper Anchor, with signature songs such as “Lip Gloss and Black,” “Right Side of the Bed,” “The Crimson,” “Ex’s and Oh’s” and “Becoming the Bull.” After longtime vocalist Alex Varkatzas departed, drummer and clean vocalist Brandon Saller moved into the lead-vocal role, with bassist Porter McKnight adding harsh vocals. Later releases including Baptize, The Beautiful Dark of Life and the 2026 album The End Is Not the End have continued the band's balance of aggressive metal, melodic rock and anthemic songwriting.
