August Burns Red is an American metalcore band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, known for technical guitar work, crushing breakdowns, intricate rhythms and a melodic approach that helped define modern metalcore. Formed in 2003, the band established itself through albums including Messengers, Constellations, Leveler, Found in Far Away Places, Phantom Anthem and Guardians, with fan favorites such as “Composure,” “White Washed,” “Marianas Trench,” “Back Burner,” “Ghosts” and “Invisible Enemy.” The group earned Grammy Award nominations for Best Metal Performance for “Identity” and “Invisible Enemy” and has maintained a remarkably stable lineup led by vocalist Jake Luhrs, guitarists JB Brubaker and Brent Rambler, bassist Dustin Davidson and drummer Matt Greiner. Their 2026 album Season of Surrender returned the band to Fearless Records and combines the breakdown-heavy sound of their earlier work with the technical and atmospheric elements developed throughout their career.
