Blind Equation is a Chicago-based cybergrind act led by vocalist, songwriter, and producer James McHenry, combining extreme metal and grindcore intensity with chiptune, electronic programming, metalcore, hyperpop, trance, and other digitally driven sounds. Active since 2012, the project developed from early DIY cybergrind releases into albums including LIFE IS PAIN in 2021, DEATH AWAITS in 2023, and A Funeral In Purgatory in 2025. Blind Equation signed with Prosthetic Records in 2023, and A Funeral In Purgatory pushed the sound further into gothic metal and death/doom territory while retaining its glitch-heavy electronic foundation. Standout tracks include “never getting better,” “you betrayed the ones you loved,” “Nothing,” “Flashback” featuring Strawberry Hospital, and “it feels like the end” featuring JOHNNASCUS, establishing Blind Equation as a distinctive name in the modern cybergrind scene.
