Boy Harsher is an American electronic duo consisting of vocalist Jae Matthews and producer/multi-instrumentalist Augustus Muller, known for a dark, dance-driven sound that blends coldwave, darkwave, minimal synth, industrial, EBM, and synth-pop. The pair developed their early collaboration through the performance project Teen Dreamz before evolving into Boy Harsher, pairing Matthews’ intimate, commanding vocals with Muller’s sparse beats, pulsing basslines, and atmospheric synthesizers. Releases including Lesser Man, Yr Body Is Nothing, Country Girl, and the 2019 album Careful established the duo as a leading name in contemporary dark electronic music, with tracks such as “Pain,” “Motion,” “Morphine,” “Fate,” “Lost,” and “Face the Fire” becoming staples of their catalog. Boy Harsher also expanded into filmmaking with The Runner, a horror project they wrote, directed, and scored, further connecting their music with the cinematic aesthetic at the center of their work.
