Deltron 3030 is an alternative hip-hop supergroup consisting of rapper Del the Funky Homosapien, producer Dan the Automator, and turntablist Kid Koala. The trio built its identity around futuristic storytelling, dense lyricism, cinematic production, and intricate turntablism, creating a dystopian science-fiction world centered on Del’s character Deltron Zero. Their landmark 2000 self-titled debut became a cult classic of experimental hip-hop, featuring tracks such as “3030,” “Positive Contact,” “Mastermind,” “Virus,” “Things You Can Do,” and “Time Keeps on Slipping.” The group returned with Event 2 in 2013, expanding the concept with orchestral arrangements and guests including Damon Albarn, Mike Patton, Zack de la Rocha, Black Rob, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Deltron 3030 remains one of alternative hip-hop’s most distinctive concept projects, combining socially conscious futurism with imaginative production and old-school MC technique.
