Descendents are a Southern California punk band whose fast hardcore energy, melodic hooks and personal lyrics helped establish the blueprint for melodic hardcore and pop-punk. Formed in Manhattan Beach in the late 1970s and fronted by Milo Aukerman, the band made its defining early statement with the influential 1982 album Milo Goes to College and continued with releases including I Don’t Want to Grow Up, All, Everything Sucks, Cool to Be You and Hypercaffium Spazzinate. Songs such as “Hope,” “Suburban Home,” “Bikeage,” “Good Good Things,” “I’m the One” and “Everything Sux” have made Descendents an enduring influence on generations of punk and alternative bands.
