Dinosaur Jr. is an influential alternative rock trio from Amherst, Massachusetts, known for combining heavy distortion, melodic songwriting, punk energy, and J Mascis’ distinctive guitar solos and laid-back vocals. The classic and current lineup features Mascis on guitar and vocals, Lou Barlow on bass and vocals, and Murph on drums. Albums including You’re Living All Over Me, Bug, Green Mind, Where You Been, Without a Sound, Beyond, Farm, Sweep It Into Space, and There Near helped establish the band as a major influence on alternative, indie, noise rock, and the guitar-heavy sound that preceded the grunge explosion.
