Earth, Wind & Fire is a Grammy-winning American band founded by Maurice White whose sophisticated fusion of funk, soul, R&B, jazz, pop, disco, rock, and African musical influences helped create one of the most recognizable sounds in popular music. The group achieved its breakthrough with That’s the Way of the World and the No. 1 hit “Shining Star,” then built a landmark catalog that includes “September,” “Let’s Groove,” “Boogie Wonderland” with The Emotions, “Fantasy,” “Reasons,” “Sing a Song,” “After the Love Has Gone,” “Serpentine Fire,” and “That’s the Way of the World.” Known for intricate vocal harmonies, powerful horn arrangements, Verdine White’s distinctive bass work, and Philip Bailey’s soaring falsetto, Earth, Wind & Fire has sold more than 90 million records worldwide. The band has won six competitive Grammy Awards, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and received the Kennedy Center Honors.
