Ethel Cain, born Hayden Silas Anhedönia in 1998, is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and model known for her ambient and Southern Gothic-style music. Initially releasing recordings under various aliases, Cain gained recognition with her EP "Inbred" in 2021, featuring the single "Crush." Her debut studio album, "Preacher's Daughter" (2022), received critical acclaim and a cult following. In 2025, the album's vinyl release propelled it to number ten on the US Billboard 200, making Cain the first openly transgender artist to reach the top ten. That same year, she released "Perverts," an experimental drone music project, and followed it with her second studio album, "Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You," which provided a lyrical prequel to her debut.
