Freak Freely is an Atlanta-based band best known as the longtime live band behind singer Teddy Swims, combining soul, R&B, funk, rock, gospel and pop influences into a groove-driven live sound. Formed in 2020, the group features guitarists Addy Maxwell and Jesse Hampton, keyboardist and musical director Jairus Hardge, bassist Christian Griswold and drummer DeAndre Hemby. Freak Freely has developed an identity beyond a conventional backing band, receiving co-artist and production credits with Swims on the live album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) [Live], including performances of “Lose Control,” “The Door,” “Some Things I’ll Never Know” and “Evergreen.” Their close musical relationship with Swims has become a defining part of his live performances and touring sound.
