Freddie Gibbs, born Fredrick Jamel Tipton on June 14, 1982, is an American rapper known for his gritty, raw sound and storytelling prowess. After signing with Interscope Records in 2006, he was dropped due to label changes but later gained traction with mixtapes on Young Jeezy's CTE World, including the acclaimed "Baby Face Killa" in 2012. In 2013, Gibbs founded his own label, ESGN, and released his debut studio album, "ESGN," followed by "Shadow of a Doubt" in 2015 and "You Only Live 2wice" in 2017. His critically acclaimed mixtape "Freddie" in 2018 led to a major label deal with Warner Records, resulting in "Soul Sold Separately" in 2022, which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200. His fifth studio album, "You Only Die 1nce" in 2024, also charted. Notable collaborations include albums with producers Madlib and the Alchemist, with "Alfredo" earning a Best Rap Album Grammy nomination.
