In Flames is a Swedish metal band formed in Gothenburg in 1990 and widely recognized as one of the pioneering groups behind the melodic death metal sound associated with the city. Their music combines aggressive riffing, melodic guitar work, heavy grooves, and increasingly expansive vocal and electronic elements across albums including The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony, Clayman, Reroute to Remain, Come Clarity, The Sin and the Sentence, and Foregone. Songs such as “Only for the Weak,” “Cloud Connected,” “Take This Life,” “Trigger,” “I Am Above,” and “Meet Your Maker” have helped establish the band as one of Sweden’s most influential modern metal acts.
