Jazzmeia Horn is an American jazz vocalist, songwriter, arranger, and bandleader known for virtuosic improvisation, vocalese, scat singing, and a style that connects straight-ahead jazz with soul, R&B, and contemporary social themes. After winning the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2013 and the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition in 2015, she released the Grammy-nominated albums A Social Call and Love & Liberation, followed by the large-ensemble project Dear Love and the 2024 album Messages. Songs including “Free Your Mind,” “Green Eyes,” “No More,” “Tip,” “Voicemail Blues,” and “You’re Getting to Be a Habit With Me” showcase her range as both an interpreter and original songwriter. Horn has received three Grammy nominations, while Love & Liberation won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Jazz Album.
