Early in his career, he taught guitar to future rock stars like Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett. Satriani launched his solo career in the mid-1980s, becoming a 15-time Grammy Award nominee and selling over ten million albums, making him the bestselling instrumental rock guitarist of all time. His career highlights include touring with Mick Jagger in 1988 and joining Deep Purple in 1993. He founded the G3 tour in 1995, featuring collaborations with other renowned guitarists, and joined the supergroup Chickenfoot in 2008.
