John Caponera is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and impressionist from Chicago known for observational humor, character work, sports comedy, and celebrity impressions. He began performing professionally after winning a Chicago talent contest in 1979 and became especially recognized for his impression of legendary Chicago Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray. Caponera starred opposite Drew Carey in the 1994 NBC sitcom The Good Life and has appeared on The Tonight Show, ER, Blossom, The Drew Carey Show, Tales from the Crypt, L.A. Law, and The John Larroquette Show, while also hosting the sports-comedy programs Jocks on Comedy Central and Talk II on ESPN. His recorded stand-up catalog includes Comedy Comin' At Ya, Live At Hilarities, and Rain Delay, and more recent filmed specials include A Lot of Things I Don't Understand and the 2026 Dry Bar Comedy special Why Am I Yelling?
