José Madero is a Mexican singer, songwriter, musician, and producer from Monterrey, best known as the former lead vocalist and principal songwriter of alternative rock band PXNDX. After the band entered an indefinite hiatus, Madero established a successful solo career that moved beyond his pop-punk roots into alternative rock, folk rock, pop, electronic textures, and darker singer-songwriter territory. His solo catalog includes albums such as Carmesí, Noche, Alba, Psalmos, Giallo, and 2024’s Sarajevo, with standout songs including “Sinmigo,” “Plural Siendo Singular,” “Sin Ampersand,” “Cerraron Chipinque,” “Gardenias '87,” and “Érase una Bestia.” Known for literary, introspective lyrics centered on relationships, mortality, faith, isolation, and self-examination, Madero has developed one of the most prominent solo careers to emerge from Mexico’s alternative-rock scene.
