Louis Tomlinson is a storyteller at heart, and on his third album, How Did I Get Here?, he's finally telling his own. For the first time, he's letting himself be the artist he always wanted to be—pushing himself as a lyricist and songwriter while holding nothing back on stage for sold-out crowds that match his energy every night.
To make the record, Louis started with initial ideas in the English countryside before heading to Santa Teresa, Costa Rica for three weeks in early 2025 to write and record with primary collaborator and co-producer Nico Rebscher. The tropical setting shaped the sound he was after: sunny, warm, and confident. As he explains it, he's finally embracing his pop heritage in a way that speaks to him—marrying those influences with his own sensibilities in a way he wouldn't allow himself to do on his first two records.
