Montéz de Durango is a Chicago-area regional Mexican band and one of the defining acts of the duranguense movement, known for fast percussion, bright keyboards, saxophone-driven melodies and the dance style known as pasito duranguense. Founded in Aurora, Illinois, in 1996 by José Luis Terrazas, the group reached a broad audience with songs including “Quiero Saber de Ti,” “El Sube y Baja,” “Hoy Empieza Mi Tristeza,” “Lágrimas de Cristal,” “Adiós Amor Te Vas” and “Sólo Dejé Yo a Mi Padre.” Albums such as De Durango a Chicago, Y Sigue la Mata Dando and Borrón y Cuenta Nueva helped establish the band across the United States, Mexico and Central America, while ¡Agárrese! earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Banda Album.
