Patrulla 81 is a regional Mexican band from Durango and one of the pioneering acts of the duranguense movement, combining fast tamborazo rhythms, melodeon and keyboard melodies with romantic grupera vocals. Founded in 1981 by singer and director José Ángel Medina Soto, the group achieved a major breakthrough with “Cómo Pude Enamorarme de Ti” and built an enduring catalog that includes “Eres Divina,” “Te Quiero Mucho,” “Quiéreme Más,” “Cuando Regreses,” “Cómo Me Haces Falta” and “Ya No Puedo Olvidarte.” Following Medina Soto’s death in 2020, Patrulla 81 continued as a family-led touring and recording act under the direction of his son José Ángel “Filo” Medina Gámiz.
