Pouya is a Miami rapper known for a fast, aggressive delivery and an independent sound rooted in Southern hip-hop, underground rap, cloud rap, and the darker side of the SoundCloud-era scene. Born Kevin Pouya, he built an early following with mixtapes and tracks such as “Get Buck” before expanding his audience through Underground Underdog, Five Five, The South Got Something to Say, Blood Was Never Thick as Water, Gator, and later projects including Suicidal Thoughts in the Back of the Cadillac, Pt. 3 and POUYA. His best-known recordings include “1000 Rounds” with Ghostemane, “FIVE SIX,” “Void,” “Superman Is Dead,” “Aftershock,” and collaborations with $uicideboy$ including the $outh $ide $uicide EP and “Runnin’ Thru the 7th with My Woadies.” A longtime collaborator of Fat Nick, Ramirez, Shakewell, Ghostemane, and other underground artists, Pouya has maintained his career largely outside the major-label system through the All But 6 collective and label.
