Rainbow Kitten Surprise is an American alternative/indie rock band from North Carolina known for blending indie rock, folk, pop, electronic, hip-hop, and soulful vocal hooks into emotionally direct, genre-fluid songs. Led by singer-songwriter Ela Melo with guitarists Bozzy Keller and Ethan Goodpaster and drummer Jess Haney, the band built a devoted following through Seven + Mary, RKS, and How To: Friend, Love, Freefall, featuring the platinum single “It’s Called: Freefall.” With later releases including Love Hate Music Box and bones, plus songs such as “Cocaine Jesus,” “Painkillers,” “Superstar,” “LOL,” “Dang,” and “Sixteen,” RKS has grown from an independent breakout into a major touring act with a distinctive live-band identity.
