Saves The Day is a New Jersey rock band whose melodic blend of punk, emo, pop-punk, and alternative rock helped shape the late-1990s and early-2000s emo scene. Led throughout its history by vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter Chris Conley, the band established its early sound with Can’t Slow Down and the influential Through Being Cool before reaching a wider audience with Stay What You Are, featuring “At Your Funeral” and “Freakish.” Their catalog also includes fan favorites such as “Shoulder to the Wheel,” “You Vandal,” “Rocks Tonic Juice Magic,” “Holly Hox, Forget Me Nots,” “Anywhere With You,” and “Nightingale.” Later albums including In Reverie, Sound the Alarm, Under the Boards, Daybreak, Saves The Day, and 9 expanded the band beyond its pop-punk roots into alternative rock, power pop, and more experimental songwriting while maintaining Conley’s distinctive melodic voice and emotionally direct lyrics.
