Stabbing Westward is an American industrial rock band formed in Macomb, Illinois, by vocalist Christopher Hall and keyboardist Walter Flakus. The group broke into the alternative-rock mainstream with a dark blend of electronic programming, heavy guitars, melodic hooks, and emotionally charged lyrics, producing signature songs including “What Do I Have to Do?,” “Shame,” “Save Yourself,” and “So Far Away.” After releasing influential albums such as Wither Blister Burn + Peel and Darkest Days, the band disbanded in 2002, reunited in 2016, and returned to recording with the 2022 album Chasing Ghosts.
