Stef Chura is a Michigan indie rock singer-songwriter and guitarist known for her wiry guitar work, raw songwriting, and distinctive, elastic vocal style. Emerging from the Detroit-area DIY scene, she gained wider attention with her debut album Messes, featuring songs such as “Slow Motion,” “Spotted Gold,” and “Human Being.” She followed with Midnight, a sharper and heavier collection produced by Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest that includes “All I Do Is Lie,” “Scream,” “Method Man,” “3D Girl,” and “Sweet Sweet Midnight.” Chura’s music draws from ’90s alternative and indie rock alongside folk-rock and punk influences, balancing abrasive guitars with melodic and emotionally direct songwriting. She has also collaborated with Ohtis on “Schatze” and contributed vocals to other independent-rock projects.
