The Lovin’ Spoonful is an American folk-rock band formed in New York’s Greenwich Village in 1965 by John Sebastian, Steve Boone, Zal Yanovsky, and Joe Butler. Blending folk, pop, blues, country, and jug-band influences, the group produced a defining run of 1960s hits including “Do You Believe in Magic,” “Daydream,” “Summer in the City,” “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice,” “Nashville Cats,” and “Darling Be Home Soon.” Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, the band continues touring with founding bassist Steve Boone and a lineup dedicated to performing its classic catalog.
