The Sword is an American heavy metal, doom metal, and stoner rock band from Austin, Texas, formed in 2003. The band built a major cult following with thick riffs, fantasy and sci-fi imagery, classic metal influence, and albums including Age of Winters, Gods of the Earth, Warp Riders, Apocryphon, High Country, and Used Future. Their catalog includes fan favorites such as “Freya,” “Iron Swan,” “Maiden, Mother & Crone,” “Tres Brujas,” “Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians,” and “The Chronomancer I: Hubris,” and the band remains an important name in modern American heavy rock.
