Therapy Gecko is the comedy and performance-art persona of American comedian and creator Lyle Drescher, who conducts unscripted conversations while painted green and dressed as a gecko. Created during the 2020 pandemic, the project grew from livestreams of Drescher taking calls from strangers into the Therapy Gecko podcast and an international live show built around audience conversations, improvisation, absurd humor, and unexpectedly sincere discussions. Rather than traditional punchline-driven stand-up, Drescher finds comedy in callers’ confessions, relationships, strange experiences, and everyday problems while maintaining the deliberately surreal premise of an unlicensed lizard offering his perspective. The project has featured guests including Eric André, Lil Yachty, Tim Heidecker, Mark Rebillet, and Noel Miller, and has expanded from Reddit and Twitch into podcasts, social media, festivals, and live theater performances.
