Born Maurits Westveen in Amsterdam, he grew up in a musical family and started with instruments before turning to electronic music as a teenager. Before Mau P, he had already built a career as Maurice West in the big room world, but the 2022 rebrand marked a clear shift toward tech house and a darker, more focused lane that connected immediately.
