Getting Around Las Vegas

Rideshare, taxi, bus, monorail, and robotaxi — what actually works on the Strip and on event nights.

The Reality of Vegas Transit

Not Everything Works the Same at Night

On concert nights and major events, rideshare wait times spike, taxis get pulled, and Strip sidewalks clog. Knowing the alternatives — and where each casino's rideshare pickup zone is — makes a real difference at the end of the night.

Rideshare

Uber & Lyft

The default for most visitors. Both apps work citywide, though wait times can triple during concerts or after-show surges. Most large casinos have a dedicated rideshare pickup zone — usually separate from the taxi queue and sometimes a short walk from the main entrance.

Tip: check your hotel app or concierge for the exact rideshare zone location — some casinos have two entrances and the wrong one confuses drivers.

Taxi

Casino Taxis

Taxis are always at main casino entrances — no app needed, no unpredictable wait. Best when rideshare is surging on event nights. Base fare starts around $3.50 plus meter for distance.

Tip: state your destination before getting in and confirm the meter starts at zero. Taxi lines from major casinos typically move fast.

Public Bus

RTC — Deuce & SDX

The Deuce (Route 301) runs the full Strip and downtown 24/7, including event nights when taxis and rideshare are saturated. The SDX (Strip & Downtown Express) is faster with fewer stops. Both routes accept the same passes.

Strip & Downtown (Deuce / SDX)

  • $6 2-Hour Pass
  • $8 24-Hour Pass
  • $20 3-Day Pass

Residential routes

  • $2 Single Ride
  • $3 2-Hour Pass
  • $5 24-Hour Pass

Monorail

Las Vegas Monorail

Connects 9 stations on the east side of the Strip from MGM Grand to SLS (now Sahara). Not free — approximately $6 per ride, $14 for a 24-hour pass. Fast, avoids Strip traffic, and works well for hopping between mid-Strip casinos without walking.

Note: the monorail doesn't reach Mandalay Bay or the south end of the Strip. For those, use rideshare or the Deuce.

Robotaxi

Zoox

Zoox operates autonomous vehicles between designated pickup points at select Strip resorts. Currently free. Active properties: Resorts World, Wynn, Bellagio, Aria, Mgm Grand, Mandalay Bay.

Rides run between fixed points within participating properties — it cannot take you outside the designated service area.

On Foot

Walking the Strip

The Strip is longer than it looks. Las Vegas Blvd from Mandalay Bay to the Palazzo is over 4.5 miles. What looks like 'across the street' from your hotel can easily be a 20-minute walk once you cross pedestrian bridges and cut through casinos. Budget more time than you expect — especially in summer heat.

Pedestrian bridges at major Strip intersections help avoid traffic but add vertical time. In summer, many locals use the indoor connections between adjacent casinos to stay cool.

Event Nights

When Everything Changes

Major concert nights, sold-out residencies, and convention events on the Strip shift the transportation picture: 20+ minute rideshare waits, longer taxi queues, a packed Deuce. Best strategy: leave before the main outflow, know in advance where your casino's rideshare zone is, and consider taxi if rideshare is showing 10+ minutes.
